making dreams reality through motorsports
Welcome Media Relations/Motorsports Writer
MDR Motorsports welcomes the newest board member and advisor to the team. Ellen Richardson has a natural love for motorsports that stems from growing up in the true birthplace of NASCAR - Winston-Salem, NC . After growing up around short track racing as both a fan as well as a working professional, her passion for racing continued to grow while attending college at UNC Charlotte.
Although a love for both motorsports and news writing also continued in college, Richardson also found a new passion while obtaining her Bachelor's Degree. This landed her in the public relations realm after graduating in 2000. After working in the corporate world for many years, this motorsports maven found her way back to the motorsports world in 2009 after obtaining her certification in Motorsports Management from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Shortly after, Richardson began wearing a myriad of hats within the racing world, including time as public/media relations and social media/website management consultant for several late model teams as well as a season with NASCAR's Diversity team, Rev Racing.
While this hard working public relations consultant and motorsports journalist continues to pursue her own full-time career in motorsports, she also has a desire to help others succeed in the sport that she loves most. This is why this aspiring motorsports journalist spends her free time telling the stories of both up-and-coming motorsports stars as well as those who are making a difference in the sport for both TriadSportsCoverage.com as well as The Burnout on RacingJunk.com.
Her best advice to other aspiring motorsports media professionals:
Find a unique side to any story that you are pitching.
Don't expect every media outlet to care about your driver/team.
Write with your heart and don't analyze everything. No matter what, you will be appreciated by a fan who just wants to find their connection with the sport.
We look forward to Ms. Richardson's guidance as MDR Motorsports continues its pursuit to excellence.
